The Deacon is a mysterious, and often misunderstood variant of the endoparasitic aliens from the Alien franchise. It was originally meant to serve as an early link to the Xenomorph, though its place in the bloodline has come into question after the events of Alien Covenant, Alien Romulus, and the upcoming Alien Earth.
Despite having less than a minute of screen time, there is a wealth of information, an amazing story, and several stages of evolution, behind this rare creature.
Unfortunately, the Deacon’s legacy has since been clouded in misinformation, from a fan-made script, falsely attributed to screenwriter Damon Lindelof, claiming that the Engineers used the Deacon’s blood to create life. Despite being discredited by both Lindelof and its actual author, this version continues to gain traction, gaining millions of views when covered on youtube, and spreading confusion about the creature’s intended role in the story, while also doing a disservice to the people who worked on these films.
