Kyle MacLachlan, speaking to BFI CEO Ben Roberts after the UK’s first ever screening of a 35mm print of the pilot episode of Twin Peaks, talks about working with David Lynch on the legendary series.

‘She’s dead! Wrapped in plastic.’ These words, spoken by David Lynch regular Jack Nance, sparked the mystery over who killed homecoming queen Laura Palmer that would gain Lynch and co-creator Mark Frost’s series a devoted worldwide following. This original pilot episode sees beloved characters introduced, along with FBI Agent Dale Cooper’s appreciation for black coffee and Douglas Firs.

An immaculate symphony of grief that was like nothing else on television in 1990, it stands as a masterpiece today.
